Joh 21:12 Jesus saith unto them, Come and dine. And none of the disciples durst ask him, Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord.
Joh 21:13 Jesus then cometh, and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish likewise.
Come and dine.
If I say to you, "Come and dine." What would be your thoughts in that moment? Well, I suppose it'd depend on whether you were hungry or not, or having just dined, there are a lot of factors to consider. So, for this scenario-- You've worked all night, getting little accomplished. You haven't had anything to eat since the supper you had before you went to work. You are very hungry and in need of sustenance and I'm cooking something that smells rather good, and I've even got a few baked goods that are being warmed for your consumption. I call out to you, "Come and dine." And your thoughts in that moment would be-- Yes! I'm so hungry! You'd want to eat, you're famished. You appreciate the fact I'm ready to feed you.
Come and dine. Be fed. Sate your hunger. Let me take care of this need you have for food. I don't want you to be hungry and if I can help with that, I will.
Come and dine. I've prepared all you need, but, hey... why don't you give me a little of what you've got and I'll cook that up too. We'll have plenty. I made sure you had something to bring to the meal too. I didn't put that something in your hands, I told you how to obtain it and you listened.
Without my knowledge you wouldn't have even been able to get the foodstuff to bring to me. You listened to me, you did as I told you to do, you were rewarded for your obedience. Then you came to me and partook of the things I had provided and what I gave you knowledge to provide.
All the food was ultimately provided by me, but not without effort upon your part, not without obeying me.
We all need to come and dine with the Lord. Dine off of all He provides for us in His Holy Word, feast off the Bread of Eternal Life. Be nourished by His truths! Sated by Him, the Living Word. Spiritual food goes far beyond the physical food we know. How many men and women through the years have had a full spiritual belly as they've perished from physical hunger?
Come and dine.
Jesus isn't on the shore preparing physical food for us to eat. Jesus is in our lives having prepared all the spiritual food we'll ever need to consume.
Jesus would have us do what He asks of us and He will provide that and the rest. He'll never ask us to obtain something without providing the means for that obtainment. He'll do all for us that is needed in our spiritual lives. He will also provide all we need for our physical lives in order to live to serve Him. If that means a life of poverty is what he has chosen so that we can best serve the Him, let His will be done!
Let us, come and dine, with the Lord daily! He'll provide for us as He determines, and we will have faith it will be so.
Come and dine. Don't refuse the invitation, don't neglect to bring what you can, don't think you have all you need without the offered nourishment. Listen and accept the invitation. Go to the Lord, He is there for you asking you to come to Him, and He wants you to be filled with all the food He provides.
Come and dine- Jesus wants you to come and dine with Him. Eat of the cooked fish of salvation, feast on the perfectly baked bread of life. Jesus wants to feed us, may we be fed as we rest in His presence and accepts what He has done for us. All through His amazing LOVE, His MERCY, His GRACE, His SACRIFICE! Now, and forever! Amen.
