False Wisdom-
Those who believe they are the wisest of the world, can truly be the least wise in spiritual matters. They boast that they are too wise to have faith- 'The substance of things hoped for- the evidence of things unseen.' They want to see. They don't want hope at all, not the hope of the unseen. They want what they believe are facts, empirical proof. So many try to explain away miracles by being mere coincidences and such. They go to great lengths to discredit the things that have no logical explanations. They will ridicule those that believe, those that have faith, and they'll spout many theories to explain away the things they ultimately can't explain. Some of their ridiculous answers are accepted by those who likewise consider themselves to be too wise to have faith.
What I can't seem to understand is why anyone would choose NOT to have faith purposefully. They standfast in their ego inflated selves proud that they don't believe, giving up eternal salvation because they choose self-aggrandization over submission of self to their Creator. Of themselves they have no power to give themselves eternal life, none. This doesn't seem to matter to them. Their egos are too huge to allow for truth, they choose blindness over sight, they choose deafness over hearing- all to be able to live the lie of their own superiority, their own wisdom.
God help them, God help us all!
By the grace and mercy of our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST now and forever!
Amen.

The Wisdom of this World.
"The world by wisdom knew not God."
1Co_1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
Keenness of intellect is not faith, nor is it a substitute for faith.
A man may be a brilliant scholar, and still be the basest of men.
Several years ago a man charged with half a score or more brutal murders was hanged, and yet he was a scholar and a scientist, and had held a high position in society.
Learning is not Christianity, although a Christian may be a learned man. Modern inventions will never save men from perdition. Some modern philosopher has said that "idolatry can not live by the side of the highest art and culture that the world has ever known." But at the same time men were sunk in such wickedness as referred to by the apostle in the last part of the first chapter of Romans. Even the reputed wise men were such as are there described. It was the natural result of their looking at themselves for righteousness.' *end excerpt*
