Both ShepBoth Shepherd and Sheep/Lamb-- Jesus.
As I looked upon a picture of a lamb lost and in need of rescuing, my mind drifted off to the fact that the vulnerable, sad, lonely looking lamb whose appearance tugged at my heart strings- could represent Jesus.
I put myself in the Lamb's place, the lost in need of saving, the lost in need of a shepherd and I am that, I will forever need my Good Shepherd! However, my Good Shepherd gave His life for me as a Lamb, as a Sheep, Himself.
I can look at that little lost lamb in both ways, and both ways would be correct. Jesus, like us needed His life saved after He sacrificed it, and the Lord God Almighty saved Him, raising Him back to life. Jesus identifies with us as a Shepherd and a Sheep both.
We as Christ followers become the same in another way. We forever follow our Shepherd, we forever follow the Lamb who was slain for us, all the while we try to guide others to the Shepherd, to the Lamb- as one told to feed the sheep of the Great Shepherd.
We too, as sheep like the Great LAMB, the GREAT SHEPHERD, was slain must be willing to die for Him, as He was willing to die for us. We are counted as sheep for the slaughter in our willingness to be a sheep for the great Shepherd.
There will forever only be a single GREAT Shepherd. There will forever only be a single INNOCENT Lamb slain for us. Make no mistake, follow NO OTHERS in such a way! Many are going to come in Jesus name …
Luk_21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
We are to FOLLOW ONLY JESUS our Heavenly SAVIOR! No other! Do not be deceived! When our LORD returns, His feet will NOT TOUCH the ground, we rise to meet Him in the air!
1Th_4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Do not follow a single human being in existence who walks among us trying to portray that He is Christ on earth!
Our Great Shepherd, the Lamb slain- Jesus Christ, may He forgive us and give us all we ever need to belong to Him as His sheep!
All in His glorious name! Amen!

Mat_7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in SHEEP'S clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
False Prophets take on the outward personality of sheep, passive, gentle, but their inward man, the truth of their nature is deadly.
Sheep's clothing- innocent and harmless outwardly.
Ravening wolves- inwardly vicious and deadly.
Mat_9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as SHEEP having no shepherd.
As sheep having no shepherd. Sheep need a shepherd to guide and care for them. Sheep without a shepherd are lost and vulnerable.
Mat_10:6 But go rather to the lost SHEEP of the house of Israel.
Lost sheep of Jewish descent, those who are in need to be found by a shepherd and guided, cared for as they are given all they need so they are no longer lost.
Mat_10:16 Behold, I send you forth as SHEEP in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
Sent forth as sheep, the innocent and vulnerable, and put in the middle of a pack of wolves- those ready to attack and devour at the least provocation.
Mat_15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost SHEEP of the house of Israel.
Sent to the lost! Sent to the vulnerable! Sent for those in need of a shepherd.
Mat_18:12 How think ye? if a man have an hundred SHEEP, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
Mat_18:13 And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that SHEEP, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
Lost sheep are in need of being found. Lost sheep are important, very important. Every single sheep matters to the shepherd- losing one is losing something worth mourning. A sheep is a valuable commodity for wool, for selling, people see the worth in the sheep they possess, crying when lost, rejoicing when found.
Mat_25:32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his SHEEP the goats:
Mat_25:33 And he shall set the SHEEP on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Distinction between two livestock. Shepherds could let sheep and goats graze together but ultimately they are separated. This analogy isn't denigrating the worth of a goat as an animal, goats were used for sacrifice, milk, meat. The analogy is pointing out that though two kinds of people may dwell together (those who are God's and those who aren't) ultimately those who are God's will be separated from those who aren't.
Mat_26:31 Then saith Jesus unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the SHEEP of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
Without a shepherd the sheep go every which way.
Joh_10:2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the SHEEP.
Joh_10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the SHEEP hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
Joh_10:4 And when he putteth forth his own SHEEP, he goeth before them, and the SHEEP follow him: for they know his voice.
Shepherd (Jesus) Sheep (those who follow Jesus)
Joh_10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the SHEEP.
Joh_10:8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the SHEEP did not hear them.
Jesus is the way- the door- of the sheep, those who would follow Him. Going through any other door is going through a door leading away from Jesus.
Joh_10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Joh_10:12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
Joh_10:13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
Joh_10:14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
Joh_10:15 As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Joh_10:16 And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
Jese is the GOOD SHEPHERD- WE are HIS SHEEP and no others. He- like a good shepherd would fight and die to protect his sheep. Jesus will gather all His sheep to Him.
Joh_10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
Joh_10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me
The unbelievers are NOT Jesus' sheep. Jesus' sheep hear him and follow him.
Joh_21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
Joh_21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.
Jesus wants Simon son of Jonas to feed His- JESUS'- sheep. A shepherd can ask others to help with their sheep. This analogy has a known follower (a sheep in other analogies) being asked to help with the care of the sheep.
Act_8:32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth
Innocent, vulnerable, not protesting, Jesus went before those who would kill him.
Rom_8:36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
The sheep of Jesus, the followers of Jesus will as their Shepherd before them who was Led as a Sheep Himself to the slaughter do the same.
Heb_13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant
That great shepherd of the sheep - Jesus after being slaughtered like a sheep Himself, was brought back to life by God!
1Pe_2:25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
Sheep will go astray, but if given opportunity and not lost, they will return to their Shepherd.

Rev_5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
A Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_6:1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
A Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb
A Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Rev_7:10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
The Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
The Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
The Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
The Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
The Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
Rev_14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
Rev_14:10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb
The Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
The Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
The Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_19:7 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Rev_19:9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
The Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_21:9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
The Lamb's followers - Jesus followers.
Rev_21:14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
The Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
Rev_21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.
The Lamb- Jesus.
Rev_21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
The Lamb's book- Jesus' book of life.
Rev_22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

The Lamb- Jesus.
