What comes to your mind when you read the following verses from the Bible--
Heb 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
2Th 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
2Th 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2Th 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
2Th 1:10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day
I want to point out a sad truth, a fact that is indisputable no matter how many wish to do just that- dispute it.
Hebrews 9:28 states Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many. You don't dispute that, you love that truth. We absolutely love that our Savior died for us because otherwise we know beyond a doubt that we could never be reunited with God because the sins we commit would separate us from Him forever. Without Christ's sacrifice there is no salvation, it's impossible. Hebrews goes on the say that those who look for him (Christ) he will appear a second time without sin unto salvation. Christ took on our sins and was made sin for us.
2Co_5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
Christ was made to be sin FOR US. And unto THEM THAT LOOK FOR HIM… did you catch that? Only those that are looking for Him is He going to appear to for their salvation. It will be complete, all the sin that was placed upon Christ to redeem us will be gone when He returns for those looking for Him. A very REAL fact we neglect to let sink in is that there are millions and million and millions of people (you may know a few of them) who are NOT looking for Christ to return. They simply are not doing so. They could be caught up in a religion that is Christ-less, or are simply unbelieving of God at all, and subsequently Christ as their Savior. You may be one of those people yourself, reading this on a whim (or maybe by the Holy Spirit's guidance). Christ is NOT going to save everybody and that's NOT because He didn't die for everybody, He did, but salvation is forced upon NO ONE.
Now let's take a look at 2nd Thessalonians-
When the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels did you read what was to follow? In flaming fire! Taking Vengeance on them that know not God and obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ!
Did you get that? Taking VENGAEANCE on them that know not God and OBEY NOT the gospel…. There are going to be millions of people billions perhaps that CHOOSE not to know God and CHOOSE not to obey the gospel of Jesus Christ! They make the choice not to know and not to obey.
The Bible tells us they will be punished with complete destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.
We jump right over the reality of the multitude of people who choose not to believe and console ourselves saying, don't worry, they'll be saved too, God won't leave them behind. No one will be left behind, all will have a chance and a second chance and a third chance, then they can take a thousand years and get another chance after it's proven to them that Jesus is real. Those are LIES. Lies that Satan wants people to believe so they don't truly have to believe and obey now. They'll wait for the second or third airplane to heaven on the Jesus Express. Wrong! They'll miss Jesus altogether because they'd rather believe delusions and lies than the truth.
Jesus died for ALL, but NOT ALL will be saved! That's a fact, a Biblical fact!
May God help us to BELIEVE and OBEY.
* The following are a few excerpts from some reading I'm currently doing…
'We have found that, when the priest made the atonement, he took the blood and cleansed the sanctuary of God from the sins wherewith it had been defiled; and this is the only act which will answer to the expression of blotting out the sins, for blood was the only thing that would remove them. Hence, while the blood of Christ was shed for all, the efficacy of that blood in atoning for, or blotting out, sin, is contingent, is availing only for those who will repent and be converted. He died for the world--he died for all; and he is able to save to the uttermost them that come unto God by him. Heb. 7:25. But he will save no others.' The atonement E.J. Waggoner
Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
'It is for this reason that we are so constantly directed to the cross of Christ. Without this, there could be neither reconciliation nor atonement. But that the relation and order of the work is as we here state, namely, that his death, and reconciliation through his blood, look forward to his priestly work of atonement, is proved by the words of Paul in Rom. 5:10. "For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." Reconciliation first; salvation as the result.' The atonement E.J. Waggoner
"Remember the law of Moses." The law of Moses gives us a faithful "pattern," or "shadow and example" of the work of our High Priest in Heaven, so important for us to understand who live in the time when his work is soon to close, and his coming is near, to save all "who look for him," and to take vengeance upon them who know not God and obey not the gospel. Heb. 9:28; 2 Thess. 1:7-10. The atonement E.J. Waggoner
Do you know what Jesus your heavenly High Priest is doing for you right now? Or have you just imagined Him returning to heaven after His resurrection and just idly sitting by for thousands of years watching things? Or are you under the great misconception and the grand deception of Satan's that Jesus is entertaining your dead loved ones all this time? Biblical study reveals the truth- death is a SLEEP, and those who die in Christ will be raised at His return. Biblically we are told, the dead know NOTHING, that their thoughts perish with them. If you want to keep believing your dead loved ones are in heaven and Jesus is up there as their heavenly host, hanging out with them and all the dead, I can't stop you. That does however keep you from realizing the great Atoning work He is in truth doing and has been doing for us. Just a bit of food for thought you can ignore, disbelieve in favor of the traditions of man, or do whatever you please with. No one is forced to truth, no one, they must come to it through the Holy Spirit's guidance as a heart reaches out longing only for God's truth.
May God help us all to only ever seek to know Him in all Truth, Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life!
All through His mercy and grace, His love! His forgiveness!
Amen!
