"Consecration is simply the constant recognition of the fact that we are the Lord's and not our own. He who learns that this is a fact and lives in the constant living presence and recognition of it as the great fact--he is consecrated, and this is consecration." (A.T. Jones)
We are the Lord's.
The Lord created us.
We are the Lord's.
It is the breath of life from God that causes us to live.
We are the Lord's.
The Lord loves us.
We are the Lord's.
We are not our own.
Just because we have the power to end our existence, does not mean we own our existence.
It's true, we belong to the Lord and He's given us the choice of choosing Him and His ways, or Satan and Satan's ways.
The children we have as parents are born and taught of us many life lessons until they can go out on their own and make their own choices with their life. A person does not have a child expecting to forever make choices for that child (not if they are a healthy, intelligent, and capable child.) Parents expect that tiny newborn baby they hold to one day make choices of its own. God expects us to make choices of our own. Just as that child you brought into existence through your actions will forever remain your child- a child of your body, we will all forever belong to God, but the choices we make will define whether or not we are an eternal child of God's or a temporary child of God's. A temporary child of God's will be those who chose Satan, and one day their entire existence will be no longer, and if they are no longer in existence they are no longer a child of God's, by making that eternal choice.
We are the Lord's we are not our own.
If we choose to belong to the Lord and truly comprehend we aren't our own, then we are eternally God's, consecrated to Him.
How many choices about our lives do we make with the thought that we are our own?
How many choices do we make with the thought that we are God's?
Let us choose to believe and live knowing we belong to the Lord, and not to ourselves. Please, Lord, help us to this end.
