The Gospel in Creation.
We have seen that in every created thing the power of God is manifested. And we also learned from the scripture studied last week that the gospel is "the power of God unto salvation."
God's power is ever the same, for the text before us speaks of "his eternal power." The power, therefore, which is manifested in the things which God has made is the same power that works in the hearts of men to save them from sin and death. Therefore we may be assured that God has constituted every portion of his universe a preacher of the gospel. So then men may not only know the fact of God's existence from the things which he has made, but they may know his eternal power to save them. The twentieth verse of the first chapter of Romans is an expansion of the sixteenth. It tells us how we may know the power of the gospel.
Rom_1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek
Rom_1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse
The gospel of Christ is the power of God.
The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation.
The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to everyone.
The gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believe.
The invisible things of him…
Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
Col 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature
1Ti 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
1Ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Heb 11:27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
You can't see power except by its results. The power of a general is known by his authority to give orders to those under him and those orders are obeyed. The power of one person over another is shown by this same thing. If a father gives his son an order the son will follow it, ideally. A boss over their employee wields power of the same sort. The power of these people is known by the results of those obeying their authority. If none obeyed the commands of those in authority their power would not exist.
The results of God's power are us, they are the world around us. The sun, the moon, the stars…. All created by the power of GOD. We know how powerful the existence of the sun, the moon and stars are, and yet their power pales to nothing by the knowledge they are CREATED things. The INVISIBLE GOD created our entire world and the worlds around us. This power is so awesome we can scarcely fathom it.
For the invisible things of him - from the creation of the world are clearly seen being understood by the things that are made…
We see the RESULTS of the power of God, even if we do not see God the Father, except through the SON's manifestation of Him upon earth doing only the will of the Father which is the same will as the Son's.
Rom_1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse
The eternal power is known and understood by the world around us.
The Godhead is known and understood by the world around us.
To choose not to believe is what gives us freewill, just as to choose to believe gives us freewill. You have to have both for freewill to exist.
To deny God is a choice a person can make to their own eternal peril. God has done EVERYTHING, leaving NOTHING undone, for mankind to know Him, believe Him, to be redeemed by HIM. There is NO excuse.
Redemption by the eternal power of God.
All glory to God now and forever!
